Periodontal Surgery Is Required When Gum Disease Is Far Advanced

When gum disease is far advanced to be treated normally by oral hygiene, periodontist require periodontal surgery. The procedure that is used to eliminate the existing bacteria and help in the regeneration of the gums, bone and tissue to reduce the depths of the periodontal pocket, and as well as, repair the damage caused by gum disease progression is regenerative procedures. In this surgical procedure, the gum tissue is folded back by the periodontist so that he can remove the disease-causing bacteria before securing the tissue back into its place. Irregular surfaces may be smoothed during this invasive gum disease treatment to limit more areas for bacteria to hide. Gum disease problems can be prevented from returning by reducing periodontal pockets and a combination of good oral hygiene.
