Periodontal Surgery For Deep Pockets Along The Teeth

Bleeding, receding and swollen gums are hallmark signs for advanced periodontitis which can only be treated with periodontal surgery. Several procedures may be done by periodontists depending on the severity of the gum disease. Periodontal surgery is an invasive method in dealing and treating severe periodontitis. Pocket-depth reduction procedure is done wherein the periodontist folds back the gum tissue and removes the disease-causing bacteria that lodged in the teeth before placing back the diseased gum tissues. This is recommended in cases where in the pockets are too deep and cannot be managed by daily brushing alone. By reducing the pocket depth and removing bacteria, we can reduce the progression of periodontal diseases. Ceasing pocket depths and incessant cleaning of teeth will help maintain clean and healthy smile thereby decreasing also the chance of obtaining serious medical conditions.
